Founder & Principal Systems IntegratorRyan Hobson
Ryan brings over two decades of technical leadership in custom product development, mechanical design, and industrial automation to Walnut Automation. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, his background encompasses extensive experience in complex mechanism design, finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA). Throughout his career, Ryan has directed multi-million-dollar capital projects—spanning up to $10M in scale—leading the design, build, and commissioning of over 100 custom products, automated cells, and precision mechanisms across high-precision component manufacturing, automotive assembly, and heavy process industries.
His technical portfolio spans high-speed pick-and-place mechanisms, 3D vision systems, multi-axis robotic deployment, and major utility power infrastructure retrofits, including high-pressure piping and thermal-stress analysis for multi-gigawatt power facilities. Grounded in NFPA 70E and NFPA 79 electrical safety and industrial machinery standards, Ryan seamlessly bridges mechanical design with electrical panel integration, motion control configuration, and PLC/HMI controls architecture—directing every stage of project delivery from initial 3D CAD modeling to final floor commissioning.
